markhumpage > Startrail with a couple of Leonids captured on the evening/morning of 16th/17th November 2009. Height of the Leonid meteor shower and disappointed only to capture a couple. Set up Olympus E3 with 7-14mm lens on tripod, 15s exposure, F4.0 and captured continuous from 2100hrs on 16th through till 0700hrs on 17th. 9 hrs of earths motion, 2000 images put together in startrails software. Nice to capture the opposite curvature of the trails above and below the celestial equator.
markhumpage > Monsoon downpours were intense, unleashing one foot of rain in an hour. The Arizona landscape was a perfect backdrop for images. The nature of the land was also conducive to major flash flooding. Timing and positioning were crucial to get shots like this. The intensity and crispness of the precip shaft is what I was after here. Minutes later flash floods would have stranded us, if we had stayed put.

markhumpage > Whilst hunting waterspouts in Florida we nearly got lucky with this storm. It became a severe thunderstorm just before making landfall and could have quite easily dropped a spout. It never, but looked quite impressive against a water foreground.
markhumpage > A home grown storm springs into life over downtown Tucson. Storms would fire up in minutes over the Catalina range and end up drifting over the city. It made for great photos. A good vantage point was crucial to capture such a scene. This was taken from 'A' mountain, just across the Interstate west of Tucson, a great place to sit and watch the storm erupting.

markhumpage > An incredible Florida storm as it exploded right above us. I was time lapsing an approaching storm from a car park adjacent to an Interstate bridge. The storm eventually passed directly over us and unleashed incredible amounts of rain and wind. Almost like being within a hurricane, but not quite. This camper truck was a lonesome object which was rocking wildly from the wind. The rain sounded like bullets. A few minutes later it was clear again.
